Top 3 Must-See Destinations in Lititz, PA

Prepare to be charmed! Whether you’re a newcomer or a local, visiting Lititz is always an adventure.

What’s so great about this little Lancaster county town? Let’s start with a little history:

From the beginning, Lititz was intended to be the ideal community. Founded in 1756 by members of the persecuted Moravian church, the village of Lititz was named after a Bohemian castle where the Moravians had found refuge. Early inhabitants had to follow a strict moral code, designed to ensure a quiet and devout existence. Eventually, the town was opened up to everyone, but it remained a tight-knit community.

Today, Lititz is still that quaint utopian town with a lot to offer, including more than 70 local independently-owned shops and eateries along with unique town-wide events throughout the year. It boasts one of the oldest, continuous 4th of July celebrations in the country, which has run for more than 200 years.

Best of all, Lititz is designed for walking. It’s best experienced on foot from where you will enjoy and remember its old-world charm combined with an undeniable energetic vibe.

While there are tons of things to see and do in Lititz, no trip is complete without a visit to these must-see destinations:

1) Lititz Springs Park

This treasure trove boasts a shallow spring-fed stream that runs through the center of the park. It’s a peaceful setting for adults and seniors to enjoy the beautiful gazebo and walking trail. Children love to feed the ducks, play in the playgrounds and visit the reproduction of an earlier passenger train station near the park’s entrance, which serves as a visitor’s information center for the town. As you enter the red caboose (mini-museum) you will feel as if you were transported back in time.

2) Wilbur Chocolate

After strolling through Lititz Spring Park you may have a sudden craving for chocolate, which is no surprise as Wilbur Chocolate is literally just across the street. Since 1894, H.O. Wilbur and Sons have been tempting taste buds and delighting visitors with their world-famous Wilbur Buds.

Enjoy the nostalgic vibe of walking among antique chocolate-making machines, and watch expert candy makers create Wilbur’s delectable treats right before your eyes. With the aroma of chocolate wafting through the air, it’s hard not to leave without plenty of tasty gifts for friends and family – and maybe a few for yourself. Don’t worry, they always offer free Wilbur Bud samples whenever you visit.

 3) Bulls Head Public House

After pounding the pavement, probably with shopping bags stuffed with local wares, you’ll want to sit and savor a cold brew from the Best Beer Bar in the United States (according to USA Today).

Bulls Head features14 beers on tap, 2 cask conditioned ales, and 80 bottles to choose from. Local beers such as Victory’s Yakima Glory, American Black IPA (India Pale Ale), Troegs Pale Ale, American Pale Ale, Weyerbacher Double Simcoe, and Imperial IPA are just a few of their specially-brewed craft beers.

Enjoy a pilsner, pale ale, IPA, lager, porter, English Ale, and whatever else your beer-loving taste buds crave. You’ll have worked up an appetite by then, so order from the bar or eat more traditionally – with a waiter catering to your dining whims.

Still not convinced? We’re not the only ones who think you’ll love Lititz.

Here are a few more of the town’s accolades:

  • Distinctive Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in 2009
  • America’s Coolest Small Town, in 2013
  • Nation’s Best Beer Bar-again, in 2017

So come to Lititz and experience its wonder and beauty with a friend, a loved one , or just yourself, and you will become fan!
